Reviews By Idiot’s – Glengarry Glen Ross (1992) – Movie

TagLine – A Story For Everyone Who Works For A Living.

Rob Sacchetto and Myself take on one of Rob’s top movie choices!!  A classic, must see, tour-de-force movie with a veritable cast of Hollywood’s who’s who.  Jack Lemmon, Al Pacino, Alec Baldwin (who delivers an incredible speech,) Kevin Spacey, Ed Harris, Alan Arkin and Jonathan Pryce!

Glengarry Glen Ross is a 1992 American drama, adapted by David Mamet from his 1984 Pulitzer Prize- and Tony-winning play of the same name, and directed by James Foley. The story revolves around four New York real estate salesmen who become desperate to sell their weak leads when a tough representative is sent by the head office to motivate them. He announces that, in one week, all except the top two salesmen will be fired. The title of the film comes from the names of two of the real estate developments being peddled by the salesmen characters: Glengarry Highlands and Glen Ross Farms.

Lemmon’s portrayal of Shelley Levene was a major source of inspiration in the creation of the recurring character Gil Gunderson on The Simpsons.  The character borrows many of the mannerisms of Levene, and is often portrayed as an unsuccessful salesman.

P.S. We get a little excited about this one!!
